Affordable Mental Health Care: Six Ways We Will Make it Happen

September 25, 20245 min read

... innovations have allowed us to allocate more of our time as humans in the most needed areas - being with and helping other humans! - Dr. Blake Ausmus

Like all health care, your mental health care can be costly. We understand that, and we want to help! We work very hard to make our services affordable to anyone genuinely interested and in need.

Personally, I believe that health care should not be a luxury held behind barriers that only some can overcome. I see it as a basic right. I know the logistics of doing so are incredibly complex, but we work hard to do what we can.

Growing up in a home with a single parent and seven children, we did not have financial stability. We relied on the good of others to help us in many areas of life, including health care. As an adult, when I have attempted to pay back some of the generosity, I have been met with kind words telling me, “You don’t need to pay me back; you go and pay it forward” or “No, no, no. You take this because you’ll need it to help your business.” As a result, I’m trying to carry this on.

Our business plan involves the logistics of balancing the talents of many people. Over the years, we have worked hard to streamline and make our processes as efficient as possible while elevating the quality of care. Here is a glimpse into how we improve personal connections while maintaining efficiency in other areas of the business.

We pride ourselves on being on the cutting edge of science and technology in the industry—this is not common in the field of mental health. One advantage we gain from this is that technology is used in many facets of the business—not only within some of the treatments and assessments but also in the background where we leverage science and technology. Innovations continue to reduce our overall costs for marketing, research and design, account management, administration, and staff hiring and training.

At the end of the day, innovations have allowed us to allocate more of our time as humans in the most needed areas - being with and helping other humans! For example, you may notice when you attend therapy at our clinics that we do not employ any receptionists. This is an area we have streamlined and automated so much that your healthcare providers, including psychologists, social workers, and neurofeedback technicians, will be the ones to meet you when you come in, answer your phone calls, and help you with billing your insurance company. This means that rather than hiring someone for that position, we hire an additional healthcare provider who can focus on helping you, the client.

However, despite this, we are a private clinic and need to bill for our services. So, we have found several additional ways to make this affordable to all.

Here are six ways we have made our services affordable:

  1. Free Information Session and Demonstrations: We always offer a free information session where we can meet you and answer any questions. If you come into the office, we can show you the space and briefly demonstrate what we do! By offering this free session, our clients can confidently book paid services, knowing that all their questions are answered! (We can also meet over the phone or video chat.)

  2. Health care benefits: All of our services are completed by or under the supervision of one of our Registered Psychologists or Social Workers. As a result, our services are billable to insurance companies and health spending accounts. We offer direct billing in many cases.

  3. Tax Credits: At our clinics, all paid services are accompanied by a receipt that can be used for medical expense tax credit.

  4. Charities and Government programs: We have had success with many organizations, including charities, churches, and government programs, that have helped pay for treatments.

  5. Insurable injuries: If you are coming for reasons related to a workplace injury, military service, or a motor vehicle accident, you can likely have your sessions paid by insurance.

  6. Financial Assistance Program: We also provide financial assistance to those who otherwise cannot afford the total cost of treatments. It’s a VERY simple process (and does not require you to give us the details of your last year’s tax return, either 😉)! Click HERE to apply.

Our staff will help you navigate the cost and affordability. You do not need to know or plan how you will pay for treatment before reaching out. Wherever you are, we will meet you there and make this happen. Honestly, we will!
